Training

Joseph Adams received a Master’s Degree in Oriental Medicine, from Emperor’s College in Santa Monica. Just as significant as his formal training, Joseph is a second-generation acupuncturist and often calls upon needling techniques and herbal formulas that were handed down to him.  Joseph also spent many years serving as a senior student to William Morris, PHD, L.Ac. and trained intensively with other masters such as Dr. Robert Zriger, OMD, Miki Shima, OMD, David Chan, OMD, Celia Dermont, L.AC., who helped to cultivate his expertise and clinical focus. 

 

In addition to his private practice, Joseph is a resident acupuncturist for Kaiser San Francisco's Chronic Pain Department. While working in tandem with physicians, physical therapists, psychologists and other practitioners, Joseph utilizes his own modern, clinically refined therapeutics, combining both traditional Chinese medicine and Western diagnostics. 

 

Teaching

Joseph serves as a clinical supervisor and instructor at the Acupuncture and Integrative Medical College in Berkeley, teaching orthopedics and overseeing the treatment of patients in AIMC's clinic. Joseph also is a regular lecturer for ACCHS's doctoral program in Oakland. 

 

Publishing and Editing 

Joseph has published articles relating to health, pulse diagnosis and Chinese philosophy, and also works as a peer review editor for The American Acupuncturist.

Joseph is dedicated to providing wholesome care for the entire family and has successfully addressed a wide spectrum of complaints from: pain, poor digestion, migraines, stress, low energy, colds & flu, addiction, allergies, oncology support, to a host of issues specific to women and men’s health.

Acute and Chronic Pain

Drawing upon specialized orthopedic training, Joseph is able to discern the nature of acute and constitutional imbalances to create individualized treatments for sports-related injuries, chronic pain, and arthritis.
